Students explored the use of texture in art and created mixed media landscapes and nature scenes using real tree branches, cotton, yarn, various fabrics, tissue paper and sand paper.
Students participates in a smell test of 9 spices. Clues were given and students guessed based on color, texture, and most importantly, the SMELL of each spice.
During the month of March we are focusing on the Five Senses. For this particular project, we explored sight. Students learned about art techniques to create the illusion of depth and three dimensional space in these 2-point Perspective drawings. We also created optical illusion designs using line, shape and value.
During our Art History club, students learned about the art movement Impressionism and artists like Claude Monet and Camille Pissarro. Students created scenes from nature, real or imaginary, using the Impressionist bruchs
During February, Black History Month, we discussed contemporary African American artists and created our own artwork in response. For this particular project, we explored the work of Beverly Buchanan, who explores Southern vernacular architecture in her art.
